The CARES Act allows deducting charitable contributions made in 2020 for those who don’t itemize deductions! Previously, charitable contributions could only be deducted if taxpayers itemized their deductions. For 2020, taxpayers who don't itemize deductions may take a charitable deduction of up to $300 for cash contributions made in 2020 to qualifying organizations such as OEPC. Married couples filing jointly can deduct up to $600! The law changed due to the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act. Please use this opportunity to donate $300 to OEPC and up to $600 if filing jointly then subtract that amount from your income before you figure the amount of Federal tax you owe for 2020.
